I know that most people find it difficult to save money especially for teenagers. Here are some tips on saving money:
- Before you buy something, ask yourself, is it a want or need. When you see something that you like, do not immediately pay for it. Walk out of the shop and look at other things. It will help you to forget about the item if it is a want and therefore, save money. :)
- Always go for cheap and healthy food. Do not always go for expensive food. Sometimes, you’re just paying more for the same kind of food. But maybe you can treat yourself to something more expensive once per month.
- Don’t waste your money on storybooks because most of the time, you’re going to read them just once. Borrow them from the library. It’s cheap and convenient!
- NEVER apply for credit cards whenever you’re still studying because you’re going to land yourself in debt way before you even start working.
- Create another bank account just for savings. You do not have to put all your allowance in every month. You can choose to put about 30% of your allowance. If you are afraid that you cannot resist the temptations to use the money, let your parents have the bank book and do not apply a card to withdraw money. Also, you will be dreading the long queues in bank if that is only way of withdrawing money. In that way, it is more difficult for you to withdraw money. What will happen next? Watch your savings grow!
