Economy of South Africa is the best in Africa

The most recent statistics puts South Africa as not only the most developed country in Africa but also one of the highly developing nations in the current economies of the world. South Africa has the best top eleven companies in terms of performance and revenue generation in Africa. The South Africa stock exchange is rated highly in the large economies of the world. What advantage does South Africa have over other Africa countries? This is a country that just got full independence most recently in the year 1994.
South Africa is the highest producer of gold in the world. This has helped to sustain the economy given the high value of gold in the foreign and local markets. The country was blessed with this precious metal and it is almost undisputable that this is one of the major factors contributing to the high levels of growth. It is however not common to hear that the best ranked and performing industry in South Africa is derived from service sectors. The banking and financial services industry in South Africa nets better revenue and income than the gold and metal industry in the country.
The society of South Africa is integrated with several white people majority from Britain, who were the colonial masters. Racism otherwise known as apartheid in South Africa was widespread in the colonial days until very recently the country achieved independence from British colony. The natives never drove away the colonies from their country like witnessed in other Africa countries such as Zimbabwe, Kenya, Uganda, Congo and others. The rampant growth in South Africa is highly attributed to the presence of high number of whites in the country who are normally associated with development apart from their personal interests in the country.
Most of other African countries have either remained stagnant or experienced slow growth in their economies due to bad governance. Africa has got selfish and power hungry leaders who are not development conscious. An instance is the democratic republic of Congo which has been left behind in terms of development while it is one countries with the best natural resources and valuable minerals in Africa. By 1997, the country had a potential of being one of the best developing countries in the continent but because of one Mobutu Sese Seko, a leader who ruled with an iron hand. The country was ruled by one man with his friends, running the central bank of the country like his personal account. Mobutu looted the country of most valuable then exiled to Saudi Arabia after a serious coup that ousted his long tenure as the single ruler. If only the country had a good leader, Congo would have been better off today than most countries. Such is the situation in most of the Africa countries.
It should therefore be a matter of concern to all Africa countries to develop a culture of development and shun impunities like corruption so as to forge ahead. The growth of South Africa and Egypt is commendable for the continent. The people should stand up in the strongest manners possible against bad governors who do not put any interest of the country ahead.
